New season positivity
Say goodbye to summer and hello to a fresh focus
As you prepare to go back to work and perhaps the school routine after the summer, it’s normal to feel a little lethargic. How do you kick-start your focus, motivation and self-discipline? What can you do to take greater self-responsibility?
Even though most of us don’t have long school holidays off work, the feeling ingrained from childhood summers of six weeks of freedom, of a change in routine, is somehow etched into our psyche. We enjoy the slightly slower pace of life that the warmth can bring; and the collective feeling that we’re on holiday. After all, there’s a time for everything, and everything has its time.
As the end of August approaches, we can’t help but feel the change in season drawing near. For some, it’s a welcome relief from the chaos that occurs when children aren’t in school: juggling childcare and play dates while life continues for working parents. For others, it’s a loss of fun, of long, lighter evenings; watching the sunset and having the windows open at night.
No matter how your summer has played out, September’s approach can sometimes bring a slight sense of dread. It’s time to pack the barbecue and garden furniture away and prepare for the next season.

Positivity starts here
We’re here to help you embrace the opportunity to re-frame your September. Maybe a new commitment to exercise, to physical movement that you know you should do more of, yet never seem to find the time and headspace to start. Maybe it’s a job around the house or garden that you’ve left all summer, that keeps nagging away at you. Perhaps it’s an admin task that you keep burying under that ever-growing pile of virtual paperwork.
The sense of achievement we feel when we tackle something we’ve been putting off can be very empowering. We remember that if we set our mind to something and are doing it for the right reasons, we see results. And having the discipline to set ourselves a task and seeing it through often has positive effects that reach far into the future.

From impossible to possible
Even though it can feel overwhelming at the start, we know that if we break things down into small, manageable chunks, it IS do-able. September is a great time to start a new routine: getting these habits in place while we still have the light and relative warmth and residual memory of summer sun – setting us up to be more resilient for the winter months ahead.
Ask a friend to hold you accountable, and do the same for them. Maybe you decide to meet before work and do a 30-minute power walk; or commit to 10 press ups a day. Call or message each other and check you’ve both kept your commitment for that day. If you’re already exercising well, what could you do better, more effectively? What new goal could you set?
The time for new habits
September is also a very good time for starting new eating habits. The days of allowing ourselves off the hook during summer holidays and parties, and generally letting our hair down a bit, are behind us. But moderation is key. Use September’s natural seasonal shift to commit to a new disciplined approach to your work, exercise, food and relaxation. Yes – even relaxation needs to be disciplined, or else it can go by the wayside, or become too dominant. Balance is important: it’s easier to stay healthy with practical, everyday routines, rather than arriving at an emotional or physical imbalance. Disease comes when the physical body, or emotional health, is out of alignment. If we spend time making sure we’re as balanced as possible, the less external environmental factors will affect us.

Controlling what’s within our sphere
Nowadays, mitigating external factors plays a bigger role than ever before. We live in a toxic world, from electromagnetic smog emitted from every online device in homes, offices, hospitals, schools, cafes and pubs; to the chemicals that have seeped into modern agriculture. These are things we have limited control over (although we will address what we can do to limit their effects in a future blog).
But what we can do, is make sure we’re as fit and healthy as we can be physically, mentally and spiritually; in order to withstand the effects of those factors outside our control.
A multi-vit for your daily routine
Fasting for health, reducing sugar, eating more saturated fats, drinking water correctly (yes, there is a wrong way): these are all great habits to get into, and September’s a great time to start. Check in with our blogs and health hacks for ideas and motivation over the coming months.
As well as eating habits, new work goals and exercise routines, think about adding a multi-vit to your daily routine. Daily all-in-1 powder is an easy addition to make to your breakfast smoothie; or it can be mixed with water at any time during the day. This highly absorbable multi-vit is suitable for all the family (from 12 years up), helping you cover all bases.
